Botox® is comprised of very small amounts of a highly purified protein that is refined from the bacterium, Clostridium Botulinum. When injected into the skin, it relaxes the underlying muscle activity that causes a wrinkle. This process both gradually occurs and wears off, ensuring a natural looking transition between treatments.
THE RESULTS
After your injection, your results will gradually set in over the next 10 days. Full results are normally seen at two weeks. It is important not to touch your injection site or apply full pressure to the area, such as sleeping on a pillow, for several hours after your treatment. Be sure to tell your injector before your Botox® treatment if you are preparing for a special occasion or receiving other skin treatments.
To maintain your smooth and lifted look, Botox® is recommended every three to four months. If started early in life, Botox® can actually prevent wrinkles from forming. Your injector may discuss enhancing and extending your results with complimentary treatments such as dermal fillers and physician dispensed skincare.
